Dana Eclar and TV Theme Songs

On Ken P. D. Snydecast #183: Your Area And You Dana mentions that October 10th would have been Dana Eclar's birthday.

Mr. Eclar appeared in about 40 films, but his most memorable role was on the series MacGyver where he played the "boss" Peter Thornton.

Ken and Dana then get side tracked into talking about Casio keyboard based TV theme songs from the 1980s:

CATS!

On Ken P. D. Snydecast #183: Your Area And You Ken and Dana talk about the musical Cats.

Cats was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on a book by T. S. Eliot. It featured people in cat outfits and ran from 1982 until 2000. Sadly, it just missed the chance to capitalized on the "furry" movement by a few years.

Ken thought Ben Vereen is in it. He wasn't. The IBDB is sure of it.

Perhaps Ken was thinking of Zoobiee Zoo:

Zoobilee Zoo is an Emmy Award-winning children's television series that aired from 1986–1987.
It featured Ben Vereen as a leopard.

Review of Dana's Appearance at MIFF

Dana was a guest at the Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival during the last weekend of September.

Yesterday, I spoke to Ken PD Snydecast listener Jon Eadler, who attended the event:

Dana posted this picture of him and "Carol Channing":

Captain Nice

On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #182: Fauxstralia Ken mentions that William Daniels starred in Captain Nice.

From wiki:
Captain Nice was a comedy TV series that ran from January–May 1967 on NBC. Riding the tide of the camp superhero craze of the 1960s, the show's premise involved police chemist Carter Nash (William Daniels), a mild-mannered mama's boy who discovered a secret formula that, when taken, transformed him into Captain Nice.
Captain Nice didn't behave much differently from Carter. In fact, the good Captain ran around in a pajama-like costume sewn lovingly by his mother. Carter selected the name "Captain Nice" since he already had items monogrammed "CN." His superpowers included the ability to fly, but he was nervous about doing so as he was afraid of heights.

Although the show only ran for 15 episodes, a comic book and trading cards were made.

K.I.T.T.

On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #182: Fauxstralia Dana talks about sitting inside K.I.T.T. at Universal Studios.

K.I.T.T. was setup on a small pier which served the purpose of keeping your grubby hands off his hood, but it also looked really cool.

Thankfully, there is a video online:

In addition to K.I.T.T., the video also shows The A-Team van.

OK, ya saw The Right Stuff, but have you seen Lawrence of Arabia

On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #182: Fauxstralia Ken scolds Dana for not seeing Lawrence of Arabia. It's a sweeping epic about a group of camels that became the first astronauts in Arabia.

Check it out, and tell 'em Peter O'Toole sent ya:

Have YOU seen The Right Stuff?

On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #182: Fauxstralia Ken asks Dana if he's seen The Right Stuff. It's a great film about the test pilots who became the first U.S. astronauts. It has lots of drama, some comedy and a bar with mermaids in it.

Go watch it... and tell 'em Jose Jimenez sent ya!
