KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #189: Dive After Jive

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #189: Dive After Jive is out! It's full of talk of gremlins, pudding, voice over websites and video games... plus Dana throws in the towel!

It's a fun one! Go check it out! KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #189: Dive After Jive!

The Nerdist Squabble

If you aren't on Twitter, you missed the back and forth about Nerdist host Chris Hardwick and Mel Brooks that Ken had last night.

But, before we get to that, let's go back to the beginning of the month:
I decided it was the perfect time to say something like this:
 Moments later Chris responded:

It's a shame, when you think about it. Nerdist has almost 2 million followers. He must constantly get tweeted by people who like his show. However, who gets 2 responses? Some idiot who insults him.

Yep.

Anyway, yesterday a website called Split Sider posted an article that read (in part):

Not too long after popping Tom Hanks' podcast cherry, The Nerdist continued to impress and heighten the credibility of the podcast medium by chatting up Mel Brooks for over an hour and a half. It was Brooks's first appearance on a podcast, which was apparent when both the beginning and end of the episode found the guest asking Chris Hardwick how podcasts operate and are monetized (lot of people working on the answer to the latter.)

Ken responded:
You can hear that Chat here.

Ken continued tweeting:
NOTE: I have nothing against @Nerdist. I hear he does good work feeding the hungry and healing the sick, & generally walking amongst us.

Next thing you know, I'll find out that @Nerdist is also given credit for my first kiss and my first girlfriend.

Nothing would surprise me anymore. RT @darkmagician: @KenPlume I hope for your sake @Nerdist wasn't your first 'girlfriend' ;)

Soon, Ken got a replay from Roger Cormier from Split Sider:

I can't find my shoes. HAS @NERDIST TAKEN MY SHOES, AS - nope. Here they are. #evervigilant

If there's 1 thing this @splitsider @nerdist affair has taught me, it's that there is nothing that I can possess which they cannot take away

I was going to tell you about some upcoming Bit of a Chat guests, but why even bother? You'll find out about them on @Nerdist later.

Finally Chris and Ken buried the hatchet and agreed to (maybe) Chat together sometime.

Happy Birthday Tommy Glasscock

Today is Tommy Glasscock's birthday. You may remember Tommy (or Big-T as he is known today) was mentioned on KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #16: Tommy Can You Hear Me and KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #33: A Total Eclipse Of The Heart and a handful of other episodes.

As a youth, Glasscock was photographed dressed as Oliver Hardy in a photo at the Laurel & Hardy Museum in Harlem, GA.

Eventually Glasscock was found and sent these pictures in to the show:

Yeah, that's the hat.

Tommy listed today, 11/30 as his birthday on MySpace, so here's wishing a happy birthday to Big-T!

From Ken's Twitter...

Here is a handful of choice Tweets from Ken's Twitter account. If you aren't on Twitter, you should really check it out, even if it's just to see what Ken is up to every day! He's hysterical!

So "Looper" is about Big Bird traveling back in time to take out Mr. Hooper, right?

Ken also Tweeted after watching a 1973 James Bond adventure:

Watched Live And Let Die. Had forgotten how casually, almost suavely racist it is.

Still shocked by how racist Live & Let Die is. Then remembered the BBC was still airing The Black & White Minstrel Show in 1973.

Ken also tweeted about the Twitter hoax that Paul Ryan "unfollowed" Mitt Romney:

Not only has @RepPaulRyan Unfollowed @MittRomney, he also returned his Justin Bieber CDs and varsity jacket.

You know, I bet @RepPaulRyan Unfollowed @MittRomney because all Mitt ever tweets now is what he's having for lunch & pictures of his wives.

Plus, what's a twitter feed without a pic of a Tardis?:

What Film is Ken Watching?

Ken recently played a few games of "What Film is Ken Watching?" on Twitter. I figured it would be fun to post them here so you can give them a shot.

Interview with Ron Wisniski

I normally don't like to plug my stuff here, but I think Snydecast fans will enjoy hearing this.

I got a chance to chat with Ron Wisniski, the very talented actor who Dana has worked with and raved about on the Snydecast.

I talked with Ron about his career, his craft, his experience playing Teddy Roosevelt on Japanese TV, the time Julie Harris spit on him and the time his grandfather spit on Richard Nixon.

I will warn you, Dana's name doesn't come up in the conversation.

Please listen! And if you haven't done so yet, click the link above to vote for Dana AND vote for Ron for his fine work as well!

Larry Hagman

Larry Hagman recently passed away at the age of 81. Ken tweeted this:
Larry Hagman famously played Major Nelson on the sitcom I Dream of Jeannie.

Here's a classic episode via YouTube:

Here is a neat bit of trivia I learned AFTER Hagman's death: He was the son of legendary stage actress Mary Martin (best known for portraying Peter Pan.)

Yeah, Peter Pan was a chick.

A Bit of a Chat with Ken Plume and Dave Thomas

Over on asitecalledfred.com, Ken has been getting some 5 star guests to chat with lately. His most recent is a second chat with actor, comedian and SCTV alumnus: Dave Thomas.
Ken had his first chat with Dave Thomas back in the summer. It was a wonderful talk with great details into Dave's childhood and career. You can listen to it HERE.

Luckily, Ken has gotten Dave back on the show to chat about "SCTV, controversy, Danny, Candy, infrastructure, highbrows, Nielsens, and vinyl." You can listen to it HERE.

It's a great episode of a show that just gets better and better. Ken has an uncanny knack for getting celebrities to give a laid back, casual chat. It's a side of them we rarely see hear.

If you AREN'T familiar with Dave's work (shame on you) check out this classic clip:

Happy Thanksgiving!

Looking for some Snyde & Plume to go with your turkey? Take a listen to these bad boys:

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #188: Die Abby
Yep! This week's Ken PD Snydecast has some great Thanksgiving talk, including Ken's request for us to 'hashtag' T-Day with Home or Away.

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #71: A Turkey And A Ham
Here is the original 2008 description from asitecalledfred.com:
Ken & Dana return with a post-Thanksgiving discussion of nude former classmates, nudity in general, a little bit of mail, and what they’re both thankful for.

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #122: Turkey Daze
From 2009, this episode was described as:
Ken & Dana return with a pre-holiday free-for-all that winds up fixated on brining. And other stuff, of course, but still - lots of brining. And potatoes.

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #123: Whine And Brine
Also from 2009, this was the follow up episode:
Ken & Dana return with a post-holiday argument about turkey choices gone wrong, if you can believe that. Can you believe that? It’s so unlike them! So totally unlike them. At all.

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #162: Turdanken
And who can forget the 2010 Thanksgiving day spectacular:
Ken & Dana return with another of their mostly annual Thanksgiving episodes, and even manage to talk a bit about Turkey Day before the whole snail mail fiasco comes crashing down around their ears. Of corn. Zing!

The Insane Cow Posse

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #188: Die Abby Dana begins talking about the Insane Clown Posse and Juggalos. At one point Ken points out that Dana say's Insane Cow Posse (or at least it sounds that way.)
Anyhoo! The Insane Clown Posse is a popular rap duo from Detroit. They wear evil clown face paint and call their fan's Juggalos.
If you haven't ever seen their work, I recommend you check out the 2010 western Big Money Rustlas.

It's a wacky film featuring cameos from tons of celebrities including Snydecast "favorites" Ron Jeremy and Jason Mewes.

Enjoy:
