A promise from Ken... this is promising.

Found this on YouTube:

Here is the description:
This is a remix of a samples taken from from the KEN PD SNYDECAST, a podcast made by Ken Plume and Dana Snyder. Around episode #50 or so, Snyde and Plume started talking about having a "Sigh"ing song because of the lovely sound of the Plume-sighs. I took thousands of samples of Plumous sighing - Also sounds like Ken clearing his throat, saying Mi-mi-mi, and other groans.and a lot of wacky sounds of Dana and made them into a pseudo-speedcore gabber song. It is many sighs, MANY SIGHS.

If you like my music you can go to www.schizoid.ca or to facebook.com/schizoiddtrash.

So, we wait. Hey, at least you aren't this guy:

Unless you are THAT guy... yeah, he could be a listener!

Sorry, buddy!

Video: Frank Zappa on The Monkees

In KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #108: OH, WHATEVER Ken and Dana talk of Neil Innes and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Then Dana asks what the U.S. equivalent of Neil and his band would be.

Ken says it may be Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.

Then Ken says “I’m sure everybody remembers Frank Zappa from his wonderful guest appearance on an episode of The Monkees.”

Well, if you don't, you are in for a treat. Here ya go:

a closer look: Today's Special

On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #38: Running On Empty Ken and Dana setup a contest regarding the TV show Today's Special.

They promptly forgot about it.

365 days later, on KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #91: Dad’s Vinyl Pool listeners wrote in and reminded them.

It's a quirky double feature if you are looking for a couple back episodes to listen to.

Today's Special was produced for a Canadian channel but ended up in the U.S. as part of Nickelodeon’s early line up.

The show told the story of a department store after closing. The show featured a cast of bizarre characters that seemed like the result of some children's TV writer having to put together a show at gunpoint... in the middle of the night... after downing a bottle of Nyquil.

Here are the show's characters:
Jodie: I know I promised you bizarre characters, but she isn't one. She's the "straight man". By "straight man" I mean the person who the audience is supposed to identify with as comic things happen. I didn't mean that the guy on the show was gay (although I have my suspicions.)

Jeff: He was the guy on the show (yeah, THAT guy.) Anyway, he was a mannequin during the day, but at night they would put a magic hat on him (and said Hocus Pocus Alimagocus) he would come to life and dance. When he took the hat off he would turn back into a mannequin. Jeff was stupid so he would often tip his hat to people and freeze.

Parts of the show were filmed in a real department store called The Robert Simpson Company. The store is still standing under the name The Bay. I don't know much about Canadian department stores, but I find it odd that they would keep a mannequin that was always dressed in the same awful plaid outfit. ALWAYS.

Sam: I love this guy! He was an elderly puppet who worked in the store as a security guard. You can NEVER have too many puppets on a show.

Muffy: This was a puppet mouse that spoke in rhyme... ALWAYS. I take back my comment about never having enough puppets.

TXL: This was a computer that ran the store and talked.

There was also a mime, a magician and an old lady puppet that worked in the store. I don't want to discuss them. Sue me.

The show ran from 1981 to 1987. Originally shown without commercials, segments were edited out for broadcasts on Nickelodeon. The show is not currently available on DVD.

Here is one episode that is on YouTube in 3 parts:

Twitter: The "What Movie is Ken Watching While He Works" Game

Over on Twitter Ken brought back a interactive game he used to play with his followers. Ken shows you stills of the movie he is watching and you try and guess what it is.
(You may remember that this was once mentioned on the Snydecast.)

Here is the series of tweets from the other night:

First clue is a shot of the Heart in Hand restaurant. A little Google-ing would lead you to this page for the Clifton Virgina eatery.
The website includes the sentence "The restaurant also served as the opening scene for the movie ______________, starring ___________ and ______________."

I added the blanks in case you don't want the answer spoiled.

Next tweet:

Too easy! It's Starship Troopers 2:

I see. It's that Gaddaffi I keep seeing advertised during the news:

Huh. Well, it's not a Pixar film. Hmmmm. I think at this point you either know the movie or you never will guess it:

The answer:
Broadcast News the 1987 romantic comedy-drama film written, produced and directed by James L. Brooks. Starring William Hurt, Holly Hunter, Albert Brooks and Jack Nicholson.

Johnny Carson's desk

Over the 5 years of Ken PD Snydecasts Ken and Dana have mentioned Johnny Carson's Tonight Show a few times.

It's really no wonder. With all the hours that they have spoken its inevitable that Johnny's name would come up. Johnny made a huge impact on pop culture during the years that he hosted the late night program.

Lately Plumey has tweeted a few times about watching Carson and Doc Severinsen's clothes.

Recently I stumbled across a news article that talked about the auction of one of Johnny's desks back in 2005.

The desk eventually sold for $38,000.

This was not Johnny's only desk. He had quite a few:

The desk that went up for auction was a pretty simple one:

The unique features of the desk were not seen on TV:

The desk is completely empty in the back. No drawers except one:

This neat hidden drawer slid out to be used as an ashtray for Johnny's cigarettes.

The underside of the desk was covered in a sweeeeet orange shag rug. Seriously... under his desk it looked like a 70s lounge.

Also there is a burn mark under the desk from a moment in the show's history when Johnny accidentally set fire to his notes. It's not on YouTube, sadly.

But this is:

Photo: eBay, I love you

The drawing above can be yours for the low, low price of... $249.99?

Yeah, despite what Meatwad is telling us, the starting bid ain't $5.00.

Oh well, its still fun to look at. It's on eBay, if you have a spare $249.99, click here.

VIDEO: Master Shake answers your phone

Here is a little bit of Master Shake glory. It's Dana doing an answering machine message as Master Shake. You KNOW you need to make this your outgoing message:

Elvis meets Plumey

Dana recently tweeted this picture that was sent to him from a Kansas listener (in other words a Snydecast listener who lives in Kansas... not someone who listens to the band Kansas:
You know, I have no way of knowing if he listens to the band Kansas or not. I retract my previous statement.

Let's take another look at that photo:

So THAT is what photo-shopped pictures should looks like!

Not like this:

Of course, my photo-shopped pictures are an homage to this:

Dana to appear at Florida Supercon July 1-4, 2011

Dana Snyder is scheduled to appear at the Florida Supercon over the July 4th weekend. The Supercon is located in Miami and is always a great weekend.

From their site:
South Florida's Comic Book, Anime, Animation, Video Game, Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Pop Culture Convention will return on July 1-4, 2011. That's right, FSC is now a 4 day event! Since it's a holiday weekend, and Monday is the holiday, we're expanding the fun for an extra day. It's now a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday event!

FSC will be returning for year six to the NEWLY RENOVATED and NEWLY RENAMED "MIAMI AIRPORT CONVENTION CENTER" (MACC), formally known as the Miami Mart Airport Hotel and Convention Center located at 711 NW 72nd Ave, Miami FL. 33126.

Dana's bio is up on the site:

Also listed are actor Bruce Boxlietner, actor and comic creator Todd Stashwick and many other notables.

Plus a mystery guest:

If we are lucky it could be:

Or if we are unlucky it could be:

a closer look: Welcome to Pooh Corner & Dumbo's Circus

Back in 2009 on KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #98: Timothy’s Circus of Crime the boys talked about 2 Disney Channel shows.

First they spoke of Welcome to Pooh Corner:

Welcome to Pooh Corner was a puppet show that featured mostly full sized costumed characters. It was produced for 3 years in the early 1980s and was shown on the Disney Channel until the late 1990s. Dana and Ken mistakenly called the show House on Pooh Corner which was the name of a Winnie the Pooh book.

Ken: House on Pooh Corner was fine.
Dana: Yeah, except for that creepy pedophile who hung out in a children's room all the time... who kind of looked like Dr. Phil except older and...
Ken: ...and British.

They then have a wildly hysterical discussion of what would happen if the child's parent found him in the room.

Then they speak of Dumbo's Circus which Ken called Welcome to Pooh Corner's "slightly mentally challenged cousin."

Dana posted a link to the opening of the show here on The Experience before that Snydecast aired.

That post is here and is titled "Dumbo's Nightmares."

However that video has been removed from youtube. But here is another clip of this absurd show. I hope you love it:

Twitter: Ken's Doc Severinsen gallery

You may recall this Plumey tweet:
He followed that up with several more tweets and a vast collection of Doc Severinsen outfits.

It seemed like a smart idea to archive them right here:

Dana at the Magic Castle with Milt Larsen and Richard Sherman

Last night Dana attended the Houdini Séance at the historic (and exclusive) Magic Castle. Today he tweeted a photo that may is so awesome it's a wonder his camera didn't burst into flames then turn into a dove and saw a woman in half... hey, it was at the Magic Castle...
Milt Larson's wiki page is here and you can read about Richard Sherman and the Snydecast here and here.

Twitter: Doc Severinsen

Here is a recent Plumey tweet:

Wow.

Just wow.

Seriously, how does one even CONCEIVE of a sweater like this:

Wow.

It looks like a cross between a superhero costume and grandma's potholder (the thing that you use to hold a hot cooking dish... not the thing your grandma stores her weed in.)

Doc was well known as the bandleader on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show which was basically the equivalent of Jay/Dave/Conan all rolled into one. Probably better.

Here are two classic clips of Doc from the Tonight Show:
