Popeye: The Motion Picture & Popeye Village

Over the years we have heard the boys talk about Popeye.

Ken, in particular, has shown a fondness for the 1980 film version starring Robin Williams.

If you have never had the pleasure of seeing this flick, do yourself a favor and seek it out.

In the meantime, here is the trailer:

One of the most unique things about this film is that most of the sets are still standing on the island of Malta as part of a Popeye amusement park. It would be an amazing place to visit.

In lieu of a flight to Malta here are some videos I have found that show the area today:

Ever want to see a Maltese Olive Oyl lip synch Katy Perry's "Hot and Cold"? Of course you have:

Would you like to see Popeye, a wizard, a granny, a rabbit, a chipmunk and a bear do the macarena to the song "Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer"? Sure you would:

Would you like to see Popeye sing a song that sounds like "Bang a Gong" by Power Station? No? Then don't play the next video:

Finally, here is a beautiful video that shows the area from a distance. It's really a beautiful sight!
