This gem was originally posted March 7, 2008. It starts with a rambling discussion about images that had been sent in to the logo contest Ken and Dana were running at the time.

Here is a sample of the back and forth on a particular contest entry:



Ken: It's not really split fifty-fifty, is it?
Dana: What do you mean?
Ken: Well, it is both of our podcasts… and… your picture is a little bit bigger.
Dana: Uh, what do you want?
Ken: In fact I almost look, kind of, crowded out.
Dana: You're welcome.
Ken: (chuckles) I'm kind of hurt by this.
Dana: You shouldn't be. You should be glad. That's the exact amount anyone can tolerate, right there.
Ken: Oh, I appreciate that, too.
Dana: And mine's all mouth.
Ken: Well they perfectly captured you, then. Didn't they?
Dana: Yeah. You look like- I don't know what the hell is going on with you. You look like an anime character.
Ken: ...mouth and I notice that everyone tries, you know, whenever they capture you it always has this really disturbing five o'clock shadow to it.
Dana: That is very true.
Ken: It's very… that and your Joker lips are kid of odd.
Dana: Well, I don't know about the Joker lips part as much. Those are pro-lips!
Ken: Yeah, yeah. They look like they might be on an inflatable doll.
Dana: Wow! What have you been thinking about, down in the basement, Plumey?
Ken: Yes. I've been thinking about making an inflatable Dana.
Dana: Wow. That's disturbing on several levels.



Later the conversation strays to a snag they encountered on the road to find Tommy Glasscock and the boys pitch a sitcom about a housebound morbidly obese man. The magic is capped off with Ken paying off that year's Oscar bet with a rendition of, you guessed it, A Total Eclipse Of The Heart.

It's worth a second listen, friends.

Snydecast 162: Turdanken

Snydecast 162 has dropped! So, stop yer Black Friday shopping, grab a turkey sandwich and feast your ears to a delightful argument regarding thanksgiving, mailmen and ham.

This special holiday episode runs a tight 23 minutes making it just perfect to fit the gap between the last football game and the next family argument.

Thanksgiving Snydecasts

On October 3, 1863 Abe Lincoln said "I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea, and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficient Father who dwelleth in Heaven."

Booing Bristol?

On episode 161: Mail Nag Ken and Dana have a delightfully non-partisan debate over whether Bristol Palin was booed when Brandy and Max were eliminated from Dancing With the Stars.
Ken says yes, but Dana thinks the boos may be from Brandy fans who were sad to see her go.

Later Ken and Dana pondered if Sarah Palin was booed when she was shown in the audience (skip to about 0:25)

Dana's Moroccan Stew

On episode #159 (Soup's On) Dana shared this recipe for Moroccan stew.

Dana's Moroccan Stew
1 large white (or yellow) Vidalia onion (medium diced)
6 cloves of garlic (chopped)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cumin
1 large heaping tbsp sweet paprika
1/8 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp sugar
3 cans (10oz cans) of garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
1 quart low sodium chicken stock
1 can diced tomatoes
1 bag fresh spinach
extra virgin olive oil
salt
pepper


1. Cover the bottom of a large pot with olive oil. Add 1 large diced onion and six chopped garlic cloves. Cook until translucent (do not brown.)

2. Add 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp cumin, 1 large heaping tbsp sweet paprika and 1/8 tbsp cayenne pepper. Mix for 1-2 minutes at medium to medium/high heat. (Make sure to not brown onions.)

3. Add 1 quart low sodium chicken stock. Rinse and add the garbanzo beans. Add 1 can of diced tomatoes. Add 1 tbsp sugar, a couple of pinches of salt and ten twists of pepper (from a peppermill.) Bring to a simmer.

4. Turn heat to low and allow it to stew for 45 minutes under a lid.

5. Remove lid and mash garbanzo beans with a potato masher.

6. Add spinach and mix until it wilts.

7. Serve with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil on top of each serving.
