The Great Muppet Movie Ride & The Yeti

On Ken PD Snydecast 181: Caviar Bucket, Dana and Ken talk about The Great Muppet Movie Ride concept.

This was a ride that was envisioned for the Muppet area of Disney MGM Studios (now Disney's Hollywood Studio.)

Here is a short clip where Jim Henson describes the attraction as"it'll be a backstage ride, explaining how the movies are shot... but everything is wrong."

That's pretty much all the info in the clip. But, if you want to hear the words out of his mouth, watch it:

Here is some production art from the proposed attraction:

The attraction was discarded when Jim Henson's death made the future of The Muppets less certain.

Ken and Dana mention other examples of things that could be better about Walt Disney World, Including the Yeti in Expedition Everest which (according to Wiki) "has not been in full A-mode operation since a few months after the ride's opening. It currently only operates in B-mode and has a strobe light effect on it to give the appearance of movement. This is due to damage to its concrete base structure, which is unlikely to be repaired until a major refurb in the future."

Here is what the Yeti looks like in A-mode:

Here is the less scary B-mode:

And this is C-mode, which thankfully they have not had to use:

Here is a ride video (you see the yeti for a few frames at 3:13):

Here is a slow motion look at just the Yeti part of the video:
