The Elevator Operator in Pretty Woman

On Ken P.D. Snydecast #175 Stone Cold Stache Dana mentions that one of his Forum co-stars is Patrick Richwood.

You may remember Patrick from his memorable role as the elevator operator in Pretty Woman.

Dana doesn't remember him because he hasn't seen Pretty Woman.

Not too surprising. It is a "lady movie".
You can see Patrick in the trailer here:

Dana (and Patrick) are appearing in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" from April 12 through May 6th at the Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach Florida.

A tribute to Dana's mustache

Ken P.D. Snydecast #175 Stone Cold Stache features some talk about... well... Dana's Stone Cold Stache.

I made a tribute to our old friend.

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #175: Stone Cold Stache

Ken P.D. Snydecast #175 Stone Cold Stache is a wonderful thing. For starters, this is the first time we have had episodes of Snydecast on consecutive weeks since January 2011. Towards the end they mention wanting to talk about Dame Edna on the next Snydecast.

We may have to wait a few months, but they will return.

Ken P.D. Snydecast #175 Stone Cold Stache has some fun chatter about Ken's Wiki page, Shell World, train travel and Dana's past and future stage work.

It's a fun one and I would be remiss if I didn't mention that it was pretty sweet get such an enthusiastic"thank you" from Ken at the start of the show. It's always fun to help contribute to this site.

Ken P.D. Snydecast #175 Stone Cold Stache! Listen over and over! Memorize it! There is a lot going on in this one!

New Episode!!!

Wow. Back to back episodes. Hasn't happened in over a year!
This is a fun one with talk of Dana's mustache, Ken's Wiki page and trains.
Follow ups and elaborations start tomorrow!

Comedy Tonight

Ken PD Snydecast #174: Comedy Tonight is called Comedy Tonight.

Wow.

I feel redundantly redundant.

With many of the Snydecast episodes the title is a clever reference to something that was discussed on the show. Titles like "iSnyde" or "Sausage Gravy On A Trip Through The Mountains" come to mind.

With "Comedy Tonight" the title was never mentioned in the show and it's such a common statement you may have just assumed it was... well... just a title.

"Comedy Tonight" is the song that opens and closes "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum"... at least in the movie version. I have never seen the stage show...

But if you wanna know if the song is in the stage version...

Dana is appearing in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" from April 12 through May 6th at the Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach Florida.

Blanket

On Ken PD Snydecast #174: Comedy Tonight Dana mentions his hope to get nominated for a BWW Florida Award for his upcoming performance in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum".

Ken dryly responds that "yeah, with no one taking the spotlight from you with a blanket."

Blanket?
 Blanket?

Despite having seen several iterations of The Producers over the years, this went over my head.

What Ken was referring to was the scene where Leo freaks out over his security blanket (taking the spotlight away from Dana's character.)

Here is the clip from the Gene Wilder film version - looped because people on YouTube are stupid:

Remember, Dana is appearing in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" from April 12 through May 6th at the Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach Florida.

Come fall, we will make sure and swamp the BWW Florida Awards site with votes.

Jennifer Grey's nose

On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #174: Comedy Tonight the boys talk about Jennifer Grey's nose.

The Dirty Dancing actress had a nose job in the early 1990s. Here is info from Wikipedia:

In the early 1990s, Grey underwent two rhinoplasty procedures–the second of which was necessary to correct problems stemming from the first–that resulted in a nose that caused even close friends to fail to recognize her, and the major change in her appearance negatively affected her career. Of the experience she said, "I went in the operating room a celebrity – and came out anonymous.

I should note, Wikipedia is no longer Encylopedia-non-grata since they have not deleted the Ken Plume page that went up OVER ONE MONTH AGO. Hopefully one day a Snydecast page will appear...

In the meantime here are some shots of Jennifer's old nose:

Here are some shots of her current nose:

Did Dana get punched in the gut?

Yeah, I have probably listened to KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #174: Comedy Tonight more times than I should.

But every time I listen I notice one weird glitch at around 11 minutes in.

Dana makes a very pained "ooh".

He probably just poked himself with a letter opener or stubbed his toe... but I like to think he fought off an intruder and continued talking to Plumey the whole time.

Tell 'em Snydecast

On Ken PD Snydecast #174: Comedy Tonight Dana mentions a nasty review that the show got "recently".

This was covered on the blog back in October.

If you are reading this, I assume you have already given the Snydecast a 5 star review.

If you haven't, load up your iTunes and give it one.

If you already gave it a NEGATIVE review you can change that to a five star!

If you are the negative reviewer that we talked about back in October, FIX IT!

Give the guys, a proper five star review.

EVEN IF YOU ALREADY GAVE THE SHOW A FIVE STAR REVIEW YOU CAN (sorta) GIVE IT A NEW REVIEW.

Everyone, open up your iTunes and open the iTunes store. Then click your email to sign in. You have to sign in with your email AND password or it won't even take you to the page to make a review.
Pull up the "Ken P. D. Snydecast" and scroll below all the episodes to the reviews. Click "write a review":

If you haven't done one yet, this give you the form to write one.

The cool thing is, if you have already given the show a review it allows you to edit that review:

You can change the rating or add an extra letter (or rewrite the whole thing.)
Then click SUBMIT.

This will bump your review to the top. It doesn't change the amount of reviews, however.

See, now my review from 2009 is the "most recent":

What is the point of that? Well, at least it buries the negative review below a bunch of positive reviews. Plus, if you are one of those 1 star reviewers, we will love you again if you fix it!

Fanny Brice, welcome to Snydecast!

Ken PD Snydecast #174: Comedy Tonight  was a fantastic episode and brought us a new Snyde-celebrity.

Yes, she joins the pantheon of celebrities like Tom Carvel, Laurel and Hardy & Keenan and/or Kel.
Here is the first paragraph from her wiki page:

Fanny Brice (October 29, 1891 – May 29, 1951) was a popular and influential American illustrated song "model," comedienne, singer, theatre and film actress, who made many stage, radio and film appearances and is known as the creator and star of the top-rated radio comedy series, The Baby Snooks Show. Thirteen years after her death, she was portrayed on the Broadway stage by Barbra Streisand in the musical Funny Girl and its 1968 film adaptation.

Yeah. That's all we need to know.
Ken said Dana should play her in the Riverside Theatre version of Funny Girl.
Dana says "I look like Fanny Brice, she's not an attractive woman- but a very handsome man."
They then compare the cute young picture of her with an older one.
YOUNG:

OLD:

Then Dana asks who Ken would kick out of bed... Fanny or Pearl Bailey:

Ken chooses to keep Pearl... so they can sing Best of Friends.

Speaking of singing, let me jam in this plug:
You can catch Dana in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" from April 12 through May 6th at the Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach Florida.

Dana filming a movie today...

On the newest Snydecast, the boys have the following exchange:

DANA: I'm gonna go do a movie on Friday, that I can't talk about.
KEN: Leonard Part 7?
Let me join Cosby and Snydely fans around the world saying "FINALLY!"

If you don't know, "Leonard Part 6" was an awful, awful film Bill Cosby starred in back in 1987. Even he told people not to see it.
Cosby plays a former secret service agent trying to foil a sinister plot concocted by a villainess to turn all the animals in the world into killers.

Here is a fun fact! The ostrich affect (above) was made using a stop motion puppet:

It sold for $1000 back in 2010.

If you are wondering, the film's wacky title is explained in a line of dialogue. Basically the first 5 parts were confiscated by the government leaving dozens of hack reviewers to say "they should have confiscated this one too!"

Speaking of reviews, here is one by Siskel & Ebert. Watch the venom that Ebert spits at this film:

Finally, here is the trailer for the film:

If you are a fan of bad movies, I actually recommend this one. Its a silly-fun mess of a film.

Cardboard Dana

Thanks to Jon for finding this pic of the cardboard cutout of Dana that stands in the Riverside Theatre lobby:

a bow tie, a three piece suit and a phone

On Ken PD Snydecast #174: Comedy Tonight  Dana comments on the cartoons of Ken on the FRED site:

"The irony of your cartoon is its clothes you’ve never worn; a bow tie, a three piece suit… you’re talking on a phone… worst caricature ever."

These are the caricature's he was referring to:

To be clear, Dana wasn't criticizing the quality of the art. Ken referred to it as his "idealized version."

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Eye Doctor

On Ken PD Snydecast #174: Comedy Tonight Dana talked about his upcoming performance as Pseudolus in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum".
He also mentioned that he had been asked on Twitter about his eye wear in the show:

Here is a shot of Silvers from the film (without glasses):

Here he is on stage (with glasses):

Unfortunately, Dana hasn't tweeted a pic of him without his glasses yet. In the meantime, I give you this artist rendering:

It's not a blog

On Ken PD Snydecast #174: Comedy Tonight Ken and Dana mentioned that the blog has continued to keep running in the months when the show is away. I'm happy to do it. It's been like a memorial for a fallen podcast for the past many months.

But now we were lucky enough to get another Snydecast... and there is another on the way.

Anyway, after mentioning the blog (and my twitter handle) Dana said "it's not a blog, it's an experience."

Ken then made him repeat it in his best trailer voice... and as Batman.

Then they joked that I make it so it plays every time someone visits the site. I mentioned this on Twitter and was, thankfully, shot down:

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #174: Comedy Tonight

Get ready Snydepeople!

Alright!

It's on the way!

If history can teach us anything it is this:
A NEW SNYDECAST WILL LIKELY BE RELEASED TONIGHT!

Occasionally, they take a few days to come out, but the last two episodes were out within hours of recording... I think... it was a long time ago.

In the next few days and weeks I will dissect the hell out of this new sonic gem. I will break down every tiny detail and give you as many links and follow ups as I can.

For now, keep refreshing iTunes and http://www.asitecalledfred.com/ and Ken's Twitter account.

Listen to it and digest it. SAVOR IT!

Remember, it may not stay around... it may be gone for a few months... or MORE!

I for one am going to listen to this the way I would a brand new album or a new movie. No multitasking! No listening in the car or on a train!

I am pouring a glass of Miller Lite, busting into my emergency stash of Chocdilles and sitting in an easy chair and getting close to the speaker for this one.

I may even make a pennant to wave as I listen.

J.R. Crickets

On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #83: We Are Mighty Dana talks about eating the best chicken wings he had ever had.
He had them at J.R. Crickets:
J. R. Crickets is located in Atlanta. If you are ever there, look for this:
You can buy their sauce online:

See Dana Snyder in Forum

You may remember on KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #173: Breakfast Nachos when Snydely and Plumey chatted about the classic musical "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum".

Well, get your plane tickets! On April 12th Dana will appear onstage in Vero Beach, Florida playing Pseudolus!

From the Riverside Theatre website:

Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Book by Burt Shevelove & Larry Gelbart
April 12th - May 6th 2012
"Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!" Broadway's greatest farce is light fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written. Comedy reigns supreme when a thoroughly disarming slave named Pseudolus schemes to gain his freedom by helping his master's son get the girl he desires. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, this hilarious slapstick farce is filled with outrageous puns and gags that will keep you laughing all the way home!

Visit riversidetheatre.com for more info and tickets!

New Snydecast recordings next week?

Yesterday Dana tweets this:

In a fit of euphoria the Snydecast faithful start tweeting.

I decided to consider places where I could listen to the new Snydecast:

With a ghetto blaster on my shoulder walking through a real ghetto.

Tip the waiter $5 to play it over the sound system at Hometown Buffet as you eat nachos.

Over headphones as you watch Laurel & Hardy.

Over headphones as you respectively stand vigil over Tom Carvel's grave... pouring a milkshake out.

Then Ken tweeted this:

Oh Snydecast, what a cruel mistress you are.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Soon

"SithusX" alerted me to a response Ken gave him to a question about when we would know of The Snydecast's fate:

It's been quite some time since the November episode. Let's hope a new one is on the way.

Rubber Biscuit

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #87: Club A Dub features a moment where Dana scolds Ken for playing Rubber Biscuit by The Blues Brothers on Red Nose Net.

Dana believes he should have played the version by The Chips. Ken agrees.

Check 'em both out. I am sure you will agree.
"Mm-mh, did you ever hear Of a wish sandwich? Well that’s the kind of a sandwich That is supposed to take Two pieces of bread And wish you had some meat"

Old Jews Telling Jokes

On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #87: Club A Dub Dana mentions other podcasts that are listed along side the Snydecast. One of them is the video podcast Old Jews Telling Jokes:

You can find out more on http://oldjewstellingjokes.com/

Here is one of the old jews... he tells a joke.
