Raclette

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #191: Slope-a-Dope features mention of Raclette:

Dana tweeted pics today of Raclette:

Raclette is both a type of cheese and a Swiss dish based on heating the cheese and scraping off (racler) the melted part.

The Raclette cheese is heated by a special machine, then scraped onto diners' plates.
It is accompanied by small firm potatoes (Bintje, Charlotte or Raclette varieties), gherkins, pickled onions, and dried meat, such as jambon cru/cuit and viande des Grisons.

Did Santa Bring You The Toys You Wanted?

Remember what December 26th was like as a kid? You got to open your new toys on Christmas Day, but then you had to usually visit relatives and leave those toys behind. Then on the 26th you could play and play and play.

Ahhh, good times.

Here is a  10 minute video features audio from KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #75: The Christmas Horn where Ken and Dana discussed favorite Christmas presents and favorite toys in general.

A Burger King doll, the Pixel Vision Camera and Alvin and the Chipmunks! That's a Merry Christmas!

Yo Cousin Vinny!

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #191: Slope-a-Dope features Ken recommending we listen to the 1998 Joe Pesci album Vincent Laguardia Gambini Sings Just for You:

In particular, Ken mentions this song:

More bizarre, Snydecast listener Nancy sent over a link to the Italian version:

J. R. Bucks

On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #191: Slope-a-Dope Ken mentions the fake money Larry Hagman would sign for fans.

Ken says according to "everything" Hagman carried them around and signed them for fans.

Food!

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #191: Slope-a-Dope features mention of a few foods (of course).

The most peculiar one was  Raclette:

Raclette is both a type of cheese and a Swiss dish based on heating the cheese and scraping off (racler) the melted part.

The method Dana mentions is where the Raclette cheese round is heated by a special machine, then scraped onto diners' plates.

. It is accompanied by small firm potatoes (Bintje, Charlotte or Raclette varieties), gherkins, pickled onions, and dried meat, such as jambon cru/cuit and viande des Grisons.

Rösti is a Swiss dish that Dana compared to hash browns.

Rösti is made with coarsely grated potato, either cooked or raw. The grated potatoes are then shaped into rounds or patties, which come in different sizes. Often rösti is simply shaped inside of the frying pan. They are most often pan fried, but can also be baked in the oven. Although basic rösti consists of nothing but potato, a number of additional ingredients are sometimes added, such as bacon, onion, cheese, apple or fresh herbs.

Steak Tartare was the dish that disagreed with Dana on his honeymoon.
Steak tartare is a meat dish typically made from finely chopped or minced raw beef.

This is often served with onions, capers and seasonings (the latter typically incorporating fresh ground pepper and Worcestershire sauce), sometimes with a raw egg yolk, and often on rye bread.
