On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #172: ButterBore Dana talks about "just missing" Richard Simmons at a record for the show "Fish Hooks".
"Fish Hooks" is a popular Disney show featuring Dana as the voice of Mr. Baldwin:
Richard Simmons is also on the show playing the gym teacher Coach Salmons:
You may know Richard Simmons as the world famous fitness guru who taught America to sweat to the oldies.
Ugh. Now I can never eat salad again.
Lemme see if there is a better picture:
Wow. He really let himself go.
I hope that's some other guy.
Anyway, direct from YouTube, here are a couple episodes of Fish Hooks featuring both Dana and Richard Simmons:
Adult Swim’s Dana Snyder and FRED’s Ken Plume set out to have a literate conversation between two pals, but inevitably devolve into a verbal, and funny, free-for-all full of bickering, infighting, and the special kind of male bonding that comes from conflict expressed through the podcast medium. This, dear friends, is the online experience!

KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #172: ButterBore
KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #172: ButterBore has been released!
It's a fun episode full of tales of missing Richard Simmons, taxes, "Two and a Half Men", Ducky and Harry Potter-land.
It's a solid episode that reveals such answers as:
What newspaper does Dana read?
Does a shepard's pie have meat in it?
&
Why Dana doesn't use a router?
Sadly the question of why people watch "Two and a Half Men" is left unanswered.
Go over to asitecalledfred.com and take a NEW sonic adventure with Snydely and Plumey.
It's a fun episode... it's not "According to Jim" funny, but what is?

Twitter: Bob Uecker and the hidden ball trick
Here is a (relatively) recent Plumey tweet:
There are many variations of the hidden ball trick. The basic idea is to conceal the ball and fool the opposing team (hopefully causing an out.)
Here is a look at a version of the trick:
Sadly, the episode Ken mentioned doesn't appear to be on the net. But, here are some other clips of Uecker on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show:
Finally here is a great clip of Uecker interviewing Andre the Giant:
Wow... why wasn't there ever a buddy cop movie starring Andre and Uecker?

Monkey Butlers
Yesterday we took another look at KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #113: Nuts On The Snyde Part 2
Remember?
No?
Toilets? A sigh competition??
No?
These girls:
Ahhh, now you remember.
Anyway, I noticed something interesting in the asitecalledfred.com comments:
Notice that "SomeDouche" says "awwwww aaron’s simpsons reference to the monkey buttlers got swept away in the podcast tide. I caught it, I liked it."
Then Aaron replied with "SOMEONE GETS ME! And that is why I love you."
Who is SomeDouche? Well, his website is listed as eyeofthesnyder.com.
Here are some clips from The Simpsons featuring monkeys: (and chimps... which are actually members of the great ape family.)
...and since we are on the subject of monkeys... here is an episode of Lancelot Link:
This site really needs more monkeys.

a second listen: KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #113: Nuts On The Snyde Part 2
KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #113: Nuts On The Snyde Part 2 is a live Snydecast done before the Dragon*Con audience (with Widgett Walls and Aaron Poole).
I Googled "dragoncon 2009 dana snyder" and I found some images of Ken and Dana at the convention but I also found this picture and decided to post it instead:
Anyway, this particular episode of the Ken P. D. Snydecast actually started on an episode of Nuts on the Road. You can hear that episode, hosted by Ken Plume and Widget Walls, here. It features some really funny chit chat, karaoke and talk of a movie starring George Burns, Kirk Cameron, Jesus and a banana.
The end of that show flows seamlessly (in the most abrupt way possible) into KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #113: Nuts On The Snyde Part 2.
Dana shows up to tell us about the most wonderful place... the hotel's bathroom.
Dana had just returned from there and was surprised that each stall had a real door and was like "a little room".
This is probably the most specific description of a bathroom on a podcast since the marine toilet in KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #69: One Fish Two Fish.
Of course, since then there has been KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #139: Glass Toilet which spends even more time talking about the toilet... man, this is one weird show!
The toilet talk is very funny and leads into great talk of hair transplants and how they put balloons under the skin to stretch it out so that you can have room for the new hair.
The show ends with a Plumey "sigh" competition. A video of this part of the podcast is on youtube:
The live audience really makes the show EVEN funnier. It's definitely worth
another listen!
Also on youtube you can watch a delightful interview that Dana gave to CW 13 Savannah at the 2009 Dragon*Con. It starts out like an ordinary interview but then Dana and the reporter act out a clichéd 1980s movie and then Dana cuts one of the greatest promos EVER:

Happy Easter!
To those that celebrate Easter, HAPPY EASTER... and to all who enjoy bizarre holiday clips...
ENJOY:
First is Sherri Lewis & Lambchop from the 1970 TV special "Easter with Oral Roberts":
Here is a rather memorable (and annoying) M&M spot from the 1980s:
This is a promo for a block of Easter shows that aired on the old Disney Channel many years ago:
Here is a classic Tom & Jerry with an Easter theme... Happy Go Ducky:
And finally... here is a video from the Tokyo Disneyland Easter parade:
Now imagine that with a sleep deprived Snydely heckling the performers.
Happy Easter!

Even more waiting...
Still on the edge of your seat waiting for Ken and Dana to rock your earholes with a new Snydecast?

Pretty freakin' sweet.

More Waiting...
ATTENTION SNYDECAST DEVOTEES:
Keep your fingers crossed kids... and keep saying I do believe in fairies.
In the meantime...
Here is another odd little YouTube clip. It is described as:
Took an email I wrote to the Ken P.D. Snydecast and the response I got and turned it into a conversation. Playing me will be a clown, and playing Dana Syder will be a British detective.
Twitter: Dana Snyder tattoo artist
Last month Dana was on Twitter talking about how he has given someone a tattoo:
It's something most of us can't say we have done... I once gave someone an autographed picture of Hervé Villechaize, but I don't think that counts.
Anyway, if you would like to see the artist at work, check this video out:

A promise from Ken... this is promising.
Found this on YouTube:
Here is the description:
This is a remix of a samples taken from from the KEN PD SNYDECAST, a podcast made by Ken Plume and Dana Snyder. Around episode #50 or so, Snyde and Plume started talking about having a "Sigh"ing song because of the lovely sound of the Plume-sighs. I took thousands of samples of Plumous sighing - Also sounds like Ken clearing his throat, saying Mi-mi-mi, and other groans.and a lot of wacky sounds of Dana and made them into a pseudo-speedcore gabber song. It is many sighs, MANY SIGHS.
If you like my music you can go to www.schizoid.ca or to facebook.com/schizoiddtrash.
So, we wait. Hey, at least you aren't this guy:
Unless you are THAT guy... yeah, he could be a listener!

Video: Frank Zappa on The Monkees
In KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #108: OH, WHATEVER Ken and Dana talk of Neil Innes and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Then Dana asks what the U.S. equivalent of Neil and his band would be.
Ken says it may be Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.
Then Ken says “I’m sure everybody remembers Frank Zappa from his wonderful guest appearance on an episode of The Monkees.”
Well, if you don't, you are in for a treat. Here ya go:

a closer look: Today's Special
On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #38: Running On Empty Ken and Dana setup a contest regarding the TV show Today's Special.
They promptly forgot about it.
365 days later, on KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #91: Dad’s Vinyl Pool listeners wrote in and reminded them.
It's a quirky double feature if you are looking for a couple back episodes to listen to.
Today's Special was produced for a Canadian channel but ended up in the U.S. as part of Nickelodeon’s early line up.
The show told the story of a department store after closing. The show featured a cast of bizarre characters that seemed like the result of some children's TV writer having to put together a show at gunpoint... in the middle of the night... after downing a bottle of Nyquil.
Here are the show's characters:
Jodie: I know I promised you bizarre characters, but she isn't one. She's the "straight man". By "straight man" I mean the person who the audience is supposed to identify with as comic things happen. I didn't mean that the guy on the show was gay (although I have my suspicions.)
Jeff: He was the guy on the show (yeah, THAT guy.) Anyway, he was a mannequin during the day, but at night they would put a magic hat on him (and said Hocus Pocus Alimagocus) he would come to life and dance. When he took the hat off he would turn back into a mannequin. Jeff was stupid so he would often tip his hat to people and freeze.
Parts of the show were filmed in a real department store called The Robert Simpson Company. The store is still standing under the name The Bay. I don't know much about Canadian department stores, but I find it odd that they would keep a mannequin that was always dressed in the same awful plaid outfit. ALWAYS.
Sam: I love this guy! He was an elderly puppet who worked in the store as a security guard. You can NEVER have too many puppets on a show.
Muffy: This was a puppet mouse that spoke in rhyme... ALWAYS. I take back my comment about never having enough puppets.
TXL: This was a computer that ran the store and talked.
There was also a mime, a magician and an old lady puppet that worked in the store. I don't want to discuss them. Sue me.
The show ran from 1981 to 1987. Originally shown without commercials, segments were edited out for broadcasts on Nickelodeon. The show is not currently available on DVD.
Here is one episode that is on YouTube in 3 parts:

Twitter: The "What Movie is Ken Watching While He Works" Game
Over on Twitter Ken brought back a interactive game he used to play with his followers. Ken shows you stills of the movie he is watching and you try and guess what it is.
(You may remember that this was once mentioned on the Snydecast.)
Here is the series of tweets from the other night:
First clue is a shot of the Heart in Hand restaurant. A little Google-ing would lead you to this page for the Clifton Virgina eatery.
The website includes the sentence "The restaurant also served as the opening scene for the movie ______________, starring ___________ and ______________."
I added the blanks in case you don't want the answer spoiled.
Next tweet:
Too easy! It's Starship Troopers 2:
I see. It's that Gaddaffi I keep seeing advertised during the news:
Huh. Well, it's not a Pixar film. Hmmmm. I think at this point you either know the movie or you never will guess it:
The answer:
Broadcast News the 1987 romantic comedy-drama film written, produced and directed by James L. Brooks. Starring William Hurt, Holly Hunter, Albert Brooks and Jack Nicholson.

Johnny Carson's desk
Over the 5 years of Ken PD Snydecasts Ken and Dana have mentioned Johnny Carson's Tonight Show a few times.
It's really no wonder. With all the hours that they have spoken its inevitable that Johnny's name would come up. Johnny made a huge impact on pop culture during the years that he hosted the late night program.
Lately Plumey has tweeted a few times about watching Carson and Doc Severinsen's clothes.
Recently I stumbled across a news article that talked about the auction of one of Johnny's desks back in 2005.
The desk eventually sold for $38,000.
This was not Johnny's only desk. He had quite a few:
The desk that went up for auction was a pretty simple one:
The unique features of the desk were not seen on TV:
The desk is completely empty in the back. No drawers except one:
This neat hidden drawer slid out to be used as an ashtray for Johnny's cigarettes.
The underside of the desk was covered in a sweeeeet orange shag rug. Seriously... under his desk it looked like a 70s lounge.
Also there is a burn mark under the desk from a moment in the show's history when Johnny accidentally set fire to his notes. It's not on YouTube, sadly.
