Adult Swim’s Dana Snyder and FRED’s Ken Plume set out to have a literate conversation between two pals, but inevitably devolve into a verbal, and funny, free-for-all full of bickering, infighting, and the special kind of male bonding that comes from conflict expressed through the podcast medium. It's especially odd considering how bland ET is in the first place. He's a dull brown but everything else in his world is straight out of Willy Wonka's Factory.

ReplyDeleteIt is the ET Ride at Universal Studios Japan. When you enter you can program your name into a machine, and then E.T. is supposed to say it as you exit. I heard nothing, but my wife claims she heard it say my name (or the Japanese equivalent).

ReplyDeleteThis ride did creep me out, and like you mentioned, because fart jokes are still funny, I was one of those douches who tried to screw up the name repeat by E.T. at the end of the ride.

ReplyDeleteIt was at Universal Studios Hollywood but was taken out for Mummy. Is at Universal Studios in Orlando and Universal Studios in Japan, and this part is when you bring E.T. home, which is/was at all of them.
An explanation as to how the Snydecast reviews on iTunes may have disappeared, if Plumey wasn't setting you up.
ReplyDeleteIn the couple of weeks before that last Snydecast was released, Apple was revamping the reviews system, mostly for the applications, to ensure that only those that have actually bought or downloaded an iphone app, song, video, or, I guess, even a free podcast, were putting up reviews. That was mostly to get rid of the reviews that were complaining about something being too expensive as a reason they had not downloaded something, and thus, had no basis to give an opinion on the content.
So Ken may have visited the iTunes store at a bad time during this housecleaning of false reviews. Or he was jerking your chain.
The thing to keep in mind about it in Japan is they have to write your name in Katakana so it can be hard to hear. Frankly I think half the time they just leave it blank and say they put your name on it.

It's at the one in Hollywood too. I remember seeing it, and that's the only Universal I've been to.
ReplyDeletetrishalyn: it used to be. The ride got old and kept breaking down, so they decided to replace it with the Revenge of the Mummy rollercoaster ride.

@John J - when was that? Also, what replaced the Back to the Future ride? I heard that was closing down like a year or so ago.

ReplyDeleteCouple of years ago. BTTF closed last Labor Day and was replaced with the Simpsons Ride. While the Simpsons Ride isn't bad, there's definitely a hole in Universal.

I'm actually more eager to see how they fix the backlot situation from the fire.
ReplyDeleteThey're actually planning on rebuilding everything including an update to the King Kong Adventure section (to be more like the recent Peter Jackson version) which i'd actually thought they should do even before the fires.
ReplyDeleteThe King Kong Adventure was getting kinda old anyway... the only thing i'll really miss are the TV's airing WWOR news from the 80's. XD
I'm sure the King Kong ride as it was, was already better than the Dino DeLaurentis version.

I think when the Dane and Plume are on the road, as they were suggesting in last podcast, to commence shortly thereafter, there is not much time at ye olde blogspot posting wonders. Rather, they are living the dream.

Well, as long as they are reaching for the upper rung, they can be forgiven. However, the next Plumey picture should be of him speeding through the swamp with his welder's mask on.

ReplyDeleteOne time in college, when I had dropped acid, and a bunch of us went to the Des Moines Holiday Inn, the one with the Holidome indoor pool, we watched The Muppet movie on HBO, when cable still consisted of the box with fake woodgrain and the row of push buttons, and the wire attaching it to the TV, and 13 channels, and I described the muppet movie as "perceptual madness". This brought the house down, as we were all "peaking". Yes, I was a Psych major, and a sophomore. This video kinda’ reminds me of that.
