Adult Swim’s Dana Snyder and FRED’s Ken Plume set out to have a literate conversation between two pals, but inevitably devolve into a verbal, and funny, free-for-all full of bickering, infighting, and the special kind of male bonding that comes from conflict expressed through the podcast medium. This, dear friends, is the online experience!

a closer look: The Robonic Stooges
On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #141: Marathon Men Dana Snyder talked to Ken Plume about a recent bout he had with insomnia.
He said that he awoke in the middle of the night and, unable to fall back asleep, he decided to watch the Boomerang cartoon channel.
Ken: What did you watch on Boomerang?
Dana: Um... I can't remember, really. It was just all those...
Ken: Was it Hanna Barbara or Looney Toons?
Dana: No, it was all Hanna Barbara.
Ken: So were you watching Magilla Gorilla?
Dana: No.
Ken: Quick Draw McGraw?
Dana: Ah, no.
Ken: Jabberjaw?
Dana: No, none of those.
Ken: Wacky Races?
Dana: May have been some Wacky Races. I think there was also some Robonic Stooges.
The Robonic Stooges originally started a segment on the super weird show The Skatebirds. The show featured people in giant bird costumes that liked to skate.
The birds would introduce cartoon shorts, one of which was The Robonic Stooges.
The show eventually was spun off to be it's own 30 minute series.

a closer look: Sorrell Booke
On KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #145: Get ‘Em, Flash! Dana and Ken spend a lot of time talking about actor Sorrell Booke.
Sorrell was a wonderful character actor who was best known for his portrayal of Boss Hogg on the Dukes of Hazzard.
Ken: Fantastic actor.
Dana: Yeah, alright. He's good.
Ken: Would you agree with that? As a character actor? A very good character actor.
Dana: Yeah. I agree with that.
Ken: And a versatile character actor.
Dana: Somewhat.
Ken: Somewhat?
Dana: What's this versatility?
Ken: I mean obviously you can see the extremes of it with a southern character like Boss Hogg.
Dana: And then like always, also, like a stuffy business guy.
Ken: Yes.
Dana: So basically an accent or... it's not like in this one he was a Catholic priest...
Ken: I will bet you at one point he probably played a Catholic priest.
Dana: No way. No way.
Well, a look at Sorrell's imdb page shows that he played 'Father Phillipe' on an episode of the show Black Sheep Squadron.
Not sure if that was a priest or just a soldier with an odd first name.
Here is an amazing news clip of Sorrell and the rest of the cast acting as Grand Marshall's of a Kentucky parade in 1980.
See Boss Hogg ride in a white convertible:
Meet a guy who drove 100 miles to see Daisy Duke:
And this guy who never saw ANYTHING like it:
Plus some youngsters that show you how to yell like a Duke:
It will be the greatest 6 minutes and 44 seconds of your life, buddy.

a closer look: The Sears-Vincent Price Collection of Fine Art
KEN P.D. SNYDECAST #26: The Bunny Hop talks of the Co-Stars albums including the one featuring Vincent Price.
Ken mentioned that Vincent lent his name to many ventures including the The Sears-Vincent Price Collection of Fine Art a collection.
Since the beginning of time (actually 1895) Sears has sold art to the masses. Still, in 1962 they noticed that most of the general public did not own any fine art.
So they decided to scare the hell out of the American public.
Vincent Price was selected by the board of trusties to 'seek out little old ladies and suck the blood from their necks... then sell them art.'
Price later explained to them that he was actually only an actor, not Dracula. He also explained that he had never played Dracula. He also apologized (in advance) for his work on Michael Jackson's Thriller album.
Luckily for Sears, Price was a connoisseur of fine art and had collected art and lectured on the subject.
Prices ranged from $10 to $3,000. Each painting came with the same quality guarantee that Sears puts on its other products.
The program ended in 1971. In the years between Sears customers bought over 50,000 pieces of fine art.

Dana and The Producers in the news
TCPALM.COM has a wonderful write up on Dana's upcoming show. The article, written by Marilyn Bauer, can be found here.
Below are some quotes and a photo, from TCPALM.COM.
"It's got everything," said Dana Snyder, who plays the leading role of Max Bialystock, one of the producers of the title. "It's so Mel Brooks in the best way possible. Every number is a production number. It is gag after gag set within a somewhat plausible story."
"I have played Max before and according to my mother I was great," Snyder said. "It is super fun and many of the people in our cast have been in the national tour or in the movie. There is probably 40 years of doing 'The Producers' with this cast."

THE KEN P. D. SNYDECAST AND WIKIPEDIA
The Ken P. D. Snydecast episode 56.
In 2008 a podcast called the Ken P. D. Snydecast was given a page on Wikipedia. Within a day that page was recommended for speedy deletion by a mathematician at UC Irvine for relevance issues. Why was a mathematician allowed to decide what was relevant in the realm of pop culture? He does not appear to be qualified to make such value judgments but if he is not who is and, more importantly, in an age of vast digital space why do such judgments need to be made at all?
Allow me to back up a bit and give a little information on the Ken P. D. Snydecast. The Ken P. D. Snydecast is a show hosted by Ken Plume and Dana Snyder. Any Aqua Teen Hunger Force fan may recognize the latter as the voice of Master Shake. Mr. Plume has many accomplishments of his own including co-authoring a children’s book titled There’s a Zombie in my Treehouse and working with director Kevin Smith on his podcast network. He also runs a site called asitecalledfred.com where the Snydecast as the show is more commonly known appears weekly. The content of the show features witty banter on various topics focusing mostly on pop culture of the past.
Given the pedigree of the hosts and the fact that it exists at all why would such a show not be included in Wikipedia? In the episode linked above Mr. Plume makes the point that in the past encyclopedias were edited by experts for length because they needed to be printed in physical volumes but that in the case of Wikipedia that size restriction does not exist so there is no need to trim down the information. This is a valid point. If something has even the tiniest societal impact why not include it in a digital collection? Why should someone, who is a non-expert in an area, be allowed to make judgments as to what is relevant in it? This seems to be the opposite of what we should be doing. If anything we should be preserving more information that the majority of people think is irrelevant than deleting data that clearly is. As nice as Wikipedia is for looking up certain information, it takes a step in the wrong direction with its speedy deletion policy and need for relevancy. Why the rush? Why speedy deletion? If they really feel the need to keep irrelevant things off their site they should have a review process as opposed to speedy deletion. I am sure there is a review process for certain types of information removal so why not use it in this case as well?
I would like to make a little side note here to point out that the UC Irvine professor who recommended the page for speedy deletion has his own Wikipedia page. I do not intend to go back on my previous statement that we should be preserving more by saying that his page should not be saved because it should, but I will say that if I were editing an encyclopedia for print the show with thousands of listeners would get a space over the university professor.

a closer look: Robert Benchley
On Ken P. D. Snydecast #157: Make All Our Dreams Come True the boys talk about humorist Robert Benchley and compare him to John Hodgman.
Ken: He was the John Hodgman of his day.
Dana: I would say he's better than the Hodgman. No offense to John Hodgman.
Ken: I think that's offense.
Dana: What's that?
Ken: I think they are very similar in what their shtick is.
Dana: You think?
Ken: Yeah. When you watch those Benchley shorts and he's basically presenting a falsely comic view of standard everyday...
Dana: All right, fair enough. I just always pictured Benchley reeking of gin.
Here is one of those shorts. This one is from 1939 and is titled How To Eat.
Enjoy it and see if you get a whiff of gin:
